The WNY Yarnies group is designed to keep us connected and in the loop, share ideas and projects as well as finished works, share life events and challenges, and be a positive, supportive place where we can uplift each other even when not physically together.
We meet on Wednesdays at Wegmans on Alberta Dr. & Saturdays at the Grand Island Welcome Center.
Project Linus provides handmade blankets to children 0-18 in the United States who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. With chapters in every state, our blankets are distributed locally. Local volunteers help fulfill our mission.
Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prostheses for women who have had breast cancer and undergone mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming. Our special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them.
